My ultimate goal is to have a shoal of around 5-6 hydrolycus Tatuaia. I had built my way up to 3 in 2 years of searching. And then last winter I had a power outage that lasted a week and it claimed 2 of them. So know I am back to ground zero with just this one lonely little guy. Anyone that has kept a shoal of these guys can tell you that they are a totally different fish as a single specimen and not nearly as enjoying as having a school of them. This guy is around 8.5".

Very nice specimen! Sorry to hear about the other two....:(
I was really looking into keeping one of these but more of an Armatus VS a Tat and a Scomb.

Personally I would not advise anyone to keep a single tat. In all honesty they are boring when alone. They hide alot and only eat every few days. These fish seem need the shoal for everything and really come alive with mates. But if anyone has the space and money for a armatus there is no question. As long as you do not mind having a 3-500g tank with a single fish.

Love the tank set-up. Looks sweet! I would love to have a shoal also but like you said they are so f*cking hard to come by.

Thanks, I really like the set up but i just can't seem to get past the scratches.:irked:

nice!! love the setup, my tank has about the same amount of scratches, and I HATE IT!!
Love the tat, you should ship it to me, so mine is not so lonely!

you say they are boring alone, but one thing i noticed about tat's (or atleast mine) they do not mess around when it comes to feeding, they hit the food so hard and swallow it fast, my armatus seems to choke on it and play with it before he swallows.

yea they are not really boring as a single fish. I guess I just got spoiled have the shoal for so long.
