Hi guys,

some of you have probably been wondering what my tank setup looks like. So here it is. Sorry for the bad quality pics and random washing basket in the reflection lmao. As I mentioned I am a bit overstocked right now but will be looking to rehome a bunch of the cichlids and move towards more of a prehistoric (gars and polys) and oddball themed tank. I also need to get another bag 20 kg bag of sand and get some better hides or remove them all not sure yet. Also for a bonus I added some pics of a endlicheri which I rescued from a local seller the other day as these guys are extremely rare here and got him for a decent price. He is currently in my hospital tank being treated with primafix and melafix and needs some tlc in clean water for a few weeks before he can be added to my main tank. He is extremely dark as I believe he is blind in one eye which is ok by me because it just makes him more bad ass lol.

Wow that endli looks like it has some spectacular patterns gonna be a stunner.

I probably wouldnt treat the the mela/pima is there a reason ? I usually just treat for parasites but it looks nice and healthy

Thanks mate. Yeah you can't see too well in the lighting and the pics took them at like 4:30 am before work. The Melafix is to treat his open wounds he seems to be missing parts of his tail and his fins are fairly shredded up with a few marks on his body like scrapes or small bites. Also on his body seems like a thin layer of algae or something from living in substandard water conditions so wanna make sure I give him daily water changes and a few meds before I introduce him to the main tank just to be on the safe side. Primafix and melafix arn't bad for poly's are they? I was only going to medicate with meds for a week or so and just rely on fin level daily water changes.

one thing you should be careful about with your hides with holes in them is polys can get stuck if the hole is sized just right I recently found this out the hard way

I dont think they are "bad" but always read they arent effective...and not really considered meds. Sounds like your right Bout the slime coat was probably kept on crappy water. All will heal up with extra clean water. Frequent wc's keep nitrates low keep ammonia and nitrite at 0 and he'll be fine

Thanks man yeah I also thought about this one they are getting larger now so I will need to remove some shortly. Sorry to hear about your fish I remember reading your post about your experience and and that would have been devastating for you :(

Yeah I know they arn't really meds but they can help stressed fish and fin damage. I am also dosing with aquarium salt which is the best at healing fin damage from my experience along with the frequent fin level water changes as you said. I expect him to be good to go in the main setup in a week or so. Might remove some ornaments/hides this afternoon or over the weekend to make it poly safe and consider rehoming some other cichlids and the option of removing all hides.
