I have a 5inch male convict that I havent seen eat for a while. He looks good and swims around and still attacks the glass when im near. I feed and watch but my GT will eat the food very fast and the convict remains clueless as to what is going on. Idk what the hell is up with this guy, but he was never a big eater. Opinions?

Have you tried switching up the foods you've given him? I don't have any convicts but my GT and Oscar love the blood worms and brine shrimp I give them, the oscar isn't to fond of his pellets but he eats enough to get full.

Ive been feeding him only pellets for 2yrs, so maybe that could be it

Once he tastes some blood worms that will kick his appetite back into gear. Imagine how boring it would be to eat the same things for every meal. Hes just saying, I want some variety!

Yeah from what I know it is good to include several different meals each week, and not to keep a fish on the same food for a long period of time, somewhere I read it can actually cause them to go insane (no idea how true this is)

Dude if thats true, then that would explain why he is such an @$$ hole. He attacks me all the time. I will get some diff. stuff.

It could just be his disposition.

I have owned and observed male convicts that are complete push-overs. I had a 5 inch male that would routinely get backed-down by a 3 inch Rainbow.

The male I have now is much more confrontational, when/if I add any fish to his tank, I will be keeping a close eye on him.

I have read on this site about really aggro con males that will bully JDs and Os of similar size. Depends on the fish.

As long as he eats enough to remain healthy you should be ok, I agree with feeding bloodworms, I haven't owned a fish that would refuse bloodworms

the Male i have now is extremely aggressive, I have had convicts in the pass but this one by far is the worst. He attacks the glass anytime someone comes near the tank. Im hopeing that soon i can get him a 20g long just for him and maybe a mate.

I would do at least a 29g Tall (same foot print, just 17" tall), but thats just me.

If he tolerates a mate you will have some fry to feed to your GT ;)
