My Male laid eggs!

Well, I thought for a while that I had a male Goldsaum. Judging by the finnage and body shape, I didn't have a doubt that it was male.

Here it is:

Then modestman pointed out to me in another thread that the vent shows it is a female. I was hoping he was wrong, but I came home tonight to find the Goldsaum guarding a bunch of eggs.

Just more proof that with many cichlids, you can't get too hung up on body and fin shape when trying to determine sex.

Thanks, all. She is definitely a great looking female. I just wanted a solo male GT for the tank when all the other fish in the tank grow out.

Unfortunately, there will be no nice fry swimming around unless the Dat, 3 bichirs, or 4 clown loaches manage to fertilize the eggs.
