My male motoro is a bully!!!

I am still new to rays and have had my male motoro for about 3 months and my female for about a month.

She is 7" and he is 6"

WHen I feed he is all over the tank searching for food. She is usually eating he comes over and bites her and chases her all over the tank. Is this normal behavior? I dont see any bite marks on her but.....? Is this expected?

This is exactly what was happening with my rays, this then developed into them doing it whenever I approached the tank. They seem to have calmed down a lot recently but still do it a bit.

As long as they are each getting enough food and not getting any injuries I wouldn't worry too much. Keep an eye out for it escalating or happening more often though as the female might start to get quite stressed.

male motoro are very aggressive it will get much worse as the male matures

the male may even kill the female if hes not getting the sex he wants this is one of the main problems with motoro

same here my two females that are a little bit bigger....., they are the bitters / aggressors.....,it comes and goes even if they are feed really well.... although keeping their bellies real full does seem to help sometimes.....

what do you think will happen if you get my big female john??? she is a nasty b!t*h...
