nice lookin fish..how big is it...nice colors..kinda looks like a festae

My mayan showed some irregular "striping" too, when she was acclimating... Looking 'washed out". Now she is a pretty fish. Look at her:

Nice male you have, BTW. ;)

You are right in looks... They are very commonly mistaken for festea...

DOVII88 : It's about 7 to 7 1/2'' now and should get to about 10'' but I'm not sure off that though as I never seen anything over 8'' yet..:D

DANIEL MACHADO : yeah that make's scence but I've had him since 4''.. your mayan is very very nice I'am jelious brotha jelious ,you've done a full aqua scape in your tank?? me I like clean simple impressionistic look.. oh buy the way what size is that bad boy??

TONGUE33 : yup!! and also mistaken for actual red terror

:D

def. a uro.....festaes spot doesn't cover as much of the caudual base like the uro. does. The other spots are just as you said, the verticle bars are becoming more prominant...nothing unusual...;)

Well, when she got in the LFS, about 2", she was totally striped, but somewhat washed out in color. Some time after I brought her home, at about 5", she assumed a kind of "clear phase", with the stripes very lightly colored, except for the large "blotch" in mid-body stripe and a row of irregular spots through the back stripes to the ocellus. This color was just like what can be seen in your fish. Gotta find some pics of that "phase" and post here.

Yes, I have done a full aquascape in my tank. I don't like the look of a bare tank, and the fishes seem happier too, especially when they have to flee away from the others in a bad mood. Here's a pic of my tank, in full view:

Thanks for the cumpliments. My bad GIRL is almost 7" long, and I have her for about 18 months now. She has grown a lot in 1,5 years, huh? :naughty:

Best regards.

Daniel.
