nice looking mayans. I've seen big breeding pairs in the canal with some fantastic color, def an underappreciated species

I can see how they could be confused with a festae to the untrained eye! They are definitely an underrated species!

I love the unique mean expression on their faces. I have one too but dunno how to sex it.

Thanks for the positive comments. I too think they are underated. I have a pair of Festae also, they are one of my favorites, but I do like my Mayans also. They can get very colorful and are a blast to watch.
