My media in fx5

Here's how my media is for my new tank with a fx5. Left to right. 1 box of Fluval pre-filter on top of 2 scouring pads. Then 2 boxes of Biomax. Then water polishing pads on the bottom. Is this a good setup? I'm still new to this.. I'm planning on filling my tank tonight and beginning my cycle

You might want to add some zeocarb which is carbon and ammonia remover.

I have 2 FX5's. My media is Biomax, Clearmax, Zeocarb and purigen.

Doesnt look like a bad setup to me, pretty similar to mine actually.

I run: 2 boxes of prefilter on the top tray, 2 boxes of biomax in the middle and 1 box of biomax as well as 200ml of purigen on top of a blue filter pad on bottom.

I do the same thing with my other FX5 as well except I run the bottom tray without the biomax and just add a boat load of sponges along with the purigen over the blue pad.

Not too sure about the scouring pads but other than that your setup looks good to go.
