My Mekong Stingray

Was wondering how you were getting on with this ray.looks like his come on great and is thriving

They're quite tough.

Upon my observation, they produce way way way more waste than south am rays.
I think the south american rays adapted better to fresh water than these. :-(. In order to thrive in fresh water these rays secrete something (i forgot what its called, yes its a shame) that pollute the water.
However, with the water parameters constant, i feel that these rays are more hardy than potamotrygons (in general).

With that said, I would suggest nothing less than a drip system for them to always have clean water.

Feeding them is very very tricky. Upon getting them they would only eat ghost shrimps. Then you can wean them to taking krill, minced shrimp and fish. Gradually increase the size of the feeds until they openly take bigger chunks of food.

The stocks we have are all wild caught and the female my good friend has is still a bit small. Eventually, we will try to breed them :)

Also, a little trivia on these guys. They were actually discovered by my friend from thailand who owns a pretty awesome home zoo. His name is Kittipong Jauratin. Weird part is i knew him even before i got my hands on these rays he discovered. It was only after a few months when i was stil researching constantly on these species that i made the connection that it was probably him who discovered it. He was very helpful and he also speaks pretty good english. First hand information was was the best help i got. And i was lucky to get it from no less than the man who discovered these rays himself :D

Truth be told, me keeping these rays is more of a passion project and a personal thing for my collection :) aesthetically, i still find the black diamonds, the flowers, the white pearls more attractive. But what caught my eye with this ray is the uniqueness and how very little people get them out of thailand and even less succeed in keeping them alive. :)

Nice......
