This tank has been setup for roughly, 13-14 months now and this was my first ever tank. In that time the design hasnt changed much, but when I moved houses, it changed dramacticly.

This is it as the design from Mid November 2006 till end of March 2007. Of course there changes here and there, but this was the basic layout. Pic was taken 28th January 2006

The size of it is 3 feet long, 13" deep and 18" high.
This is the design from end of June 2007 till present. I think this is muuuuch better. More territory. And yes, the plant on the right is REAL and its a Java Fern. The one on the left is aswell real, but I dont know the species. Some kind of Ludwigia? Pic was taken 3rd October 2007.

What I would like to know, is that in any way possible, how can I further improve the design and layout of this tank?
Adding HO lighting and CO2 is out of the question. No money:cry:. I only have $250 to work with. Im only 14...
As a sweeteruperah, I've added pics of part of my fish collection to please not only me, but to show them off:nilly:.

Unfortunately my computer is being a real bugger and not uploading the fish pics. Well, I shall upload them when I get a chance. Which may be Thursday or Friday.

Pics worked fine for me. Maybe some floating vegetation? The upper area of your tank looks a bit empty, but it may just be the angle of the pic.

or you could split the rhizome of your java fern and attach it to some of the driftwood to get some fullness in the upper section of your tank.

Why is co2 out of the question? You can do a DIY Co2 system for a 37 easily & it will cost next to nothing. If you do it right, one bottle can last over a month.
If you are truly interested in giving it a shot, I'll pic up my system & explain it to you. Please don't make me go through all that if you really aren't interested though. LOL

Im not interested in Co2 because the fish I have in there, prefer an open swimming space as opposed to it being full of plants. I have had it fully planted yonks ago, but the fish were having trouble breathing at night (No air stone). They all failed except for the 2 I still have today. I brought about $50 in plants without ANY CO2 or basic fertilizer. I was such a noob. Lol.

So thats why, if I was going to add any more plants, it would probably be some species of dwarf anubias. Or some low light - little CO2 demanding plant. By the way, Im a bit heavy on the fertilizer, thus there has been such rapid growth in the Java Fern.
