Due to a lack of proper bio-filtration (I'm pretty sure) and possibly also stress, my mom lost a lot of fish a couple weeks ago. We also had to take some fish out that were getting too aggressive or couldn't handle it. Now, it's down to an 8" male Rotkeil severum, 3.5" bellycrawler pike, (2) 3.5" silver dollars (one redhook, one spotted - i think), 3" red-spotted severum, (2) 4" spotted raphael catfish and an old female JD that may be getting towards the end of her life.
So, I am now going to take care of her tank (I live about an hour away), doing a 50% WC every weekend. We also ended up ordering an Eheim 2260 and I set it up on Saturday. The tank is now filtered by a Top Fin 60, XP3 and the Eheim. When the new filter seeds, we're going to be adding some fish (might get rid of some, too). For some reason, she wanted to get all this lacerock, so it's not really suited for the SA/CA species, but whatever. There was actually some more driftwood, a bunch of rocks and fancy plants giants that we got rid of. Hopefully, we'll be replacing the substrate with some color of 3M ColorQuartz.
We're not sure what we want to do with the stocklist, so any suggestions are welcome.
