Ok, I know most of you won't consider a 55 gallon tank a "Monster Tank" but here's my tank!

Right now there is only a Platy and 3 ghost shrimp in it. The platy was all by himself in my 29 gallon tank and was getting picked on so I moved him here for now.

It's a little boring, I'm going to be building the caves in the next few weeks. Taking my time and making it look good. Right now there is a piece of drift wood and some Ecco Complete, African Cichlid Sand in there. This will ultimately be a cichlid tank.

Oh, and underneath is a beast of a filter... The Fx5 :)

I also have an Hydor inline heater... Doesn't fit the Fx5 tubing, so I'm trying to figure out what I want to do, and how to plumb that up. I was thinking of just buying a pump and some hose, and I was also thinking of just picking up an eheim 2213 and doing that. It would be about the same $ in the end from what I can tell. You guys and gals always say... "Over Filtration" so it can't really be a bad idea. I was thinking of maybe using the eheim as a surface skimmer with a spray bar to distribute the heated water...

What do you think?

(Pictures are being uploaded to photobucket, I'll be back to edit them soon)

the only thing with over filtering is you have to make sure that the waterflow is not to great for the fish cause then they will never rest and cause alot of stress on the fish.

it is but my catfish like the flow.. and the giant danios dont seem to mind. but i dont put anything under 2 inches in there with out watching them for several hrs.. the pull from the intake has to match the output...

He was the only platy in there. The gold fish was picking on him when his other buddies didn't make it. He is probably 2 years old and the last of his group of 5.

I didn't mean he was in the 29 gallon alone, just no other platy's in there.

Oh and the fx5 flow isn't super strong... Maybe because there is a fine filter pad in there? It's not as strong as I thought it was going to be.
