My Monos are Breeding what do I do?

Hi Everyone,

I am so excited after almost 4yrs growing this pair, they are in my 220g tank with a redtail catfish which I just took out.

I have never ever breed Peacock Bass before and today she decided to lay eggs.

The strange thing is she is laying it on my black substrate as I originally had some flat rocks but she never liked it so I took it out.

To those who have breed Bass in captivity, what do I do. I just turned off the lights as she is still laying.

How long is incubation and should the fry hatch, do I wait until they are free swimming and than take them out.

Idk too much about breeding cichla but what your doing so far seems right, especially taking out the RTC

Have you seen the male fertilize?

Hi Buffalo,

Thanks for being candid. I am not experienced at breeding these big Bass.

All know is she is still laying and the male is coming around her but time will tell if I get fry to hatch.
