New here, but not totally new to the hobby, only recently getting into the big stuff, regardless here goes.

I just got a R-TSN hybrid, its a little less than 2 feet. He is TEMPORARILY in a 55 gallon, but wait! With 40 neon tetras. I was converting my tropical tank to a catfish tank, couldnt catch the stupid things, and didnt really have any plans for them, so i figured, instead of selling them for a penny a piece, than buying feeders, let them be the feeders, but apparently not. I have had him 2 days now, and kept him unfed until about 5 minutes ago (when he ate 9 massivore pellets) Why didnt he eat the neons? I see these fish demolishing goldfish on the internet, but mine cant touch a neon?

*Pet store where i got him has not fed him any live food*

at that size he probably views the neons as an inconvenience and not worth the effort to eat them haha

How much longer are you going to keep a fish that is a little less than a 2' , in a tank that is 1' wide?

That could have something to do with him not eating the neons too.

Welcome to MFK! I see you say temporary tank so I am hoping you are looking into a much bigger tank for that guy soon, I am sure you will find this site to be very helpful and informative with anything you need fish related

So you got a large tank ready for this fish?
The plan is to try to get around a 250, he was in a THIRTY (yes 30) at the pet store which was a huge reason why i got him/her, guy claims that i can get up to 8 months in a 55 although i dont plan to keep it in there that long, i figure 8 months to get the bigger tank, or find him/her a proper home. Pretty sad to see it in the 30 at the pet store.

*official measurement is 15 inches on this guy

For a 24" fish, there is really very little difference between a 30g and a 55g. Eight months in a 55g, that would be sad.

That's really not enough... I would say a bare bare BARE minimum of about 700 gallons, but more like 1,500. And if they're anything like the RTC it's gonna grow pretty quickly.
