I posted in another thread about how an exploding heater took out my little rainbow cichlid, Snaps. Coils were exposed to the water with live current. Glass everywhere. By some miracle the Acara then known as Chill was rolled up in a corner but still alive. So for several hours he was stressed, fins clamped and not swimming much. He got better. Started eating pellets and swimming. I renamed Chill "Bolt" since he recovered from this electrical mishap.

Fast forward to today. I have a metal screen cover on the QT tank. This afternoon I walked past my office and saw something very bright on the floor, about 4 feet from where the QT tank sits off the kitchette.

Blue Acara strikes again. He decided to take a dive bomb OUT of the tank, finding the smallest crack of space to do it (I slide it open about an inch to give him food). It's damn lucky I saw him right after it happened. From here on out lid stays solid shut unless I'm there.

So back to square one, sitting on the bottom with fins clamped. I have no idea if he's burst or bruised something. After about 6 hours once again he appears normal but not too interested in food.

So Chill, aka Bolt is now named Felix. As in the cat with 9 lives. He's used 2. Hopefully he won't go through 7 more. This acara is something else, the complete opposite of the last one I had that went belly up in a week for no reason.

There are supernatural forces at play here...I have no other explanation. :hypnotize

Update

The Zombie fish now known as Felix, aka Bolt, aka Chill is doing splendidly. Eats greedily and is excited when I open the fridge door. The new Rainbow cichlid has arrived! He's bigger and heavier than Snaps was and has a fiery personality. Will post pics soon.
