Hey guys...and girls, Just thought I would share my tank. I have a 280 gallon 72X30X30 tank that I recently converted from saltwater to fresh. I went out the other day and caught some fish whcih so far are doing great. I currently have 3 LM Bass ranging from 1.5 to 2.5 pounds, 4 Brim, 1 Crappie and a Catfish which I will most likely be getting rid of soon. I wanted to start with smaller bass but had no luck catching little ones. The catfish is about a pound maybe a little more and very active, anyone in the area looking for a big catfhish?

Sorry no pics yet, my home computer is down and I can't load them on my work computer to post.

dude this is sweet :D glad you decided to go native ;) my first tank was a native tank and now i always have at least 1 native fish in my house lol right now i have 6 natives. (2 channel catfish about 8", 2 flathead catfish about 5", a bluegill about 3", and a green sunfish which is my latest catch and its just .75" long) i hope you get what you want from you new natives ;)

The only real problem I have is all my bass are over 16 inches, the big one is about 20. They have an appetite and I don't know if I will keep them long term. I am planning a few night trips to collect crayfish for food. I was thinking of breaking off their claws just to be on the safe side even though in the wild they eat them with claws. I have plenty of creeks and ponds to collect food.

Question: Why is it you shouldn't release fish after keeping them in a tank. Non native fish I understand and I am against that but if you keep native fish on live foods ie. live worms, crayfish and baitfish then what is the deal?

because there is always the risk of something in the water of the declorinator you put in that could infect the fish and when you turn loose the fish into a waterway it has the possibility to spread and infect other fish and ultimately destroy the ecosystem of that area and could spread to another place and have the same effect again, and again, and again, ext. got ny other Q's?
