so I just converted my failed attempt at a planted freshwater tank over to saltwater... (I just couldn't resist as my 40g just isn't big enough) and my lfs just happened to have a cal ray in. I couldn't resist so I finally have my fish ray ever!!! Plan to get a shark, lions and a zebra eel too. But can someone remind me how big this ray is going to get? and I used to feed the ones at my old fish store Krill and bait squid, but what else will she eat? and last question is... will her clipped stinger come back? (I can't believe they cut it)

Stilll looking for help.

it will shed the old barb and grow a new one. They cut them or sometimes put a piece of tubing on them for shipping purposes.

Didn't you research the fish before you got it? I wouldn't have bought it if you don't even know how big it will get.

I pray you don't intend to keep the ray, shark, lions and eel all in the same tank - 240 is WAY too small.

Squid, silversides, peeled shrimp, and scallops will all be good for her.

This is a cool water species as well, so you shouldn't really house it with those fish anyway. Far too many people keep these rays in warm water where they shouldn't be.

We used to sell them when I worked in a fish store in Cali, but I never owned them. I did not know this is a cool water species, but it would make sense since the coastal waters there are cool. I was going to keep her until she starts getting too big and then find her a much larger home. I have a few options for her.

Your best bet is to start looking ASAP for a good home.
In the mean time, do what you can to get your tank temp down. There are many negative effects that come with exposure to temps outside the normal range.

I'd suggest ice cubes in ziplock bags (so as they melt they don't change your salinity).
