He has this weird blue coloring around his mouth and gill. He has been in the LFS display tank and I got them to sell him. He's really mellow.

OMG, crazy stray color patch! Love it! Are you going to try to make electric blue uaru? I'll bet that trait can be enhanced through selective breeding.
 
I'd love to...just now getting into the Uaru's. Really kinda cool in the tank.
 
cool fish - have you got more of them? they like to be in pairs but a small group is much better for them

3 species of Uaru is plenty ;)

we4wieners, these are awesome fish and like said above very personable at this size. My male has those same random blue patches of color, it's very common for Uaru Amphiacanthoides to have them. I've never seen one with that level of markings on it's face though, very cool! IMO their inquisitive eyes as they search their surroundings is what made me fall for them. Almost puffer like..
 
I think he's a little timid. been in his old tank for quite awhile. My geo's are giving him a little hard time, not nipping but wanna be right up on him. I am sure he'll settle in. He's beautiful.
