This is a pic of my new semi-planted 75 that I just set up today.:headbang2 I only have a few Jungle Vals and one Amazon Sword. I plan on getting a few other low light plants to put in the mix sooner or later(sooner). I've mixed a little Eco-complete and plain brown gravel to help the plants and to get the nice river look/feel for the tank.:naughty: Hope you guys enjoy. Sorry for such a crappy pic, but I have a small Nikon.:) What kind of Piranhas should I put in here? I was thinking of 4-5 Pygos.

Any input would be helpful.:feedback:

Like the amazon setup, I would go with 4-6 red bellies, and keep 4 when they get over 4".

If you can find/afford them I'd do 3-4 Caribe very beautiful fish or a lone Piraya/Rhom would be badass to. :headbang2

3-4 caribes could end up to be a problem when they are 8+ inches. Caribe and very terittorial and there isnt enough room in 75 gallon for 3-4 caribes. A piraya would eventually outgrow that tank too. Piraya get huge like 20-24 inches. Good thing about piraya is there resale value is very high so get a few grow them out and make alot of money!

I personally would try the Caribe, while they are more territorial they tend to be less skittish than reds and IMO prettier. But yeah it would definitely be more of a gamble.

True Piraya's do get huge but there's only one that I know of reaching 20" in captivity, much like a Rhom to get them close to full size you pretty much need to buy them already huge. I'd say 12"-14" would more likely be the norm but either way it would be a good reason to upgrade.

i'd start out with 6 or 8, you end up with 3 or 4
