Had these guys before but got rid of them. I am planning to keep them this time and get an actual pair. I got 4 centrarchus from Jeff Rapps and they are f2 from Lago Nicaragua. They are small but already full of personality. I tried them in the 125 with the female cuban for the first night. Bad idea. Despite it being a 6ft tank with lots of hides she was wreaking havoc. So they are in my 29 gallon and will eventually move to a 55 gallon tank. Sorry the pics are not the greatest they wouldn't stop moving. Kind of just took pics on a whim. Despite their encounter they are not afraid of me at all and all crowd to the front of the tank when I approach. I can already guess who the males and females are. I think I have 2 of each.

Anyways here are the pics.

Thanks. I am loving them. Lots of fin flaring already. They are also fearless and come right up to greet me when I approach the tank.

Nice pick up. I was thinking about getting some a while back.

James, you've had some in the past, right?

BTW, how are the cubans? Did they reconcile?

Nice pickup! I almost bought some today. Might have to go back now.

You should they are great fish. Adults especially are stunning.

interesting guys. been meaning to get a pair for the longest

So have I. Centrarchus are one of those fish Jeff has periodically so I jumped on them when I could.

They look nice and hopefully your get a nice pair from them.

Good Luck.

Thanks Darren.

Thanks for the compliment.

Thanks,

As for the cubans they are still having problems. I turned the temp down and that did not help. I gave the female cuban 1 week alone in the 125. When I added the male he beat her up but not as bad as before. Then I added the female midas to maybe even the aggression. Well she beat up the male cuban pretty bad. Then I added the male midas to keep the female busy which worked for the first night but now he is chasing her around the tank. What is strange is now that that the midas are in the tank the cuban female suddenly wants to spawn. But the male cuban is still very aggressive toward her and bites her constantly.

It is not set in stone yet but I am pondering going for a more peacful setup...
