Could also be anthurus. It looks a lot like my female anthurus does. Hard to tell the difference between them (at least for me).

OR mine could be alta....

Nice Pike!

I think it's alta - I believe that Anthrus has a lot more spangles. Great fish :D

The low number of spangles could be due to the pics being right after he was put in the tank. My two anthurus had VERY few spangles when I brought them home (even less than the pics above). After a few days, or a week or so, they really started to show some really nice spots.

Give us some new pics after a week or so, and they should be showing good enough patterns for us.

I still think that it's an Alta, male, but need a better pic to know the sex for sure. Conner, I believe that yours is an Alta male as well. . . I have had both (according to my supplier) many years ago, Anthrus has WAY more spangling.

Mine have a ton of spangling, it just doesn't show up in the pics cuz my camera sucks fish butt. If I use the flash, it washes them all out, if I don't use the flash, its too blurry to see them. I'll see if I can get some good pics of the pair and start a new post.

I'm not disagreeing with you, just trying to help determine possibilities.

No worries :D In my 20 years in the hobby, I have kept a lot of cool stuff that I didn't realize how cool it really was! I have also had a lot of stuff that was sold to me as different things than they really were. . . So, we all learn as we go, and, as the cool stuff becomes more easily obtained, we will all get better at doing ID's. For all I know, I have it backwards. . . sorry if I came off rude ;)
