Here is my new girl that I have been planning for.. .well probably since I was like 8.... but SERIOUSLY planning for the past year or two... and now.. at the end of the month she will be mine!
Her name is Voodoo and she is roughly 5 weeks old in this pic (she is the biggest one, with feathers)

I'll be picking her up at the end of the month when she'll be 8 weeks old. Still hand feeding so I will be weening her myself.
i am sooo ridiculously excited!
Thought my yearning for a macaw had been taken care of when my step dad got a green wing macaw after my mom and I moved in with him. i helped to raise and train that one and love him soo much! but then i moved away from home.... was going to get a dog... but was just missing that green wing to much... so decided to get myself a macaw instead of a dog. Went with a blue and gold because they are a little cheaper and a little smaller and just something different than what I had lol
i can't wait!!!

also have another expensive blue critter coming this week! keep an eye out for that post on wednesday ;)

Sounds like you know what your getting yourself into. Congrats. I couldn't imagine being without mine. They're just hilarious with the stuff they say,and when they say it. Definitely very smart, very distructive,& very loud. Mine never makes a sound till she see's me up & only whispers after 8-830pm. She does get loud in early afternoon & while suppers cooking(she impatient),& I mean LOUD! enjoy your lifelong friend. Can't wait to see her featherd out.

I hate you!!! I want one soooo bad.

They are something that I could easily get to like.

oh my she is beautiful....lots of luck with her.. i raised my african gray from a baby and that makes all the difference.. my umbrella cockatoo is a screamer but sweet.. but went through other people before she came to me 12 years ago.. we were planning on a macaw .. but somehow cockatoo took me over.. i am looking forward to seeing pics of growth etc.. .

They're so cute when they're bald. Hopefully she doesn't completely wreck your hearing. We have a greenwing where I work and if no one pays attention to him for more than 20 seconds he starts making a fuss that builds to deafening screeches that can be heard throughout the entire park.
My dad had one once, very funny birds. Be careful of the feet, his broke his hand with one foot when she spooked.
