So, I just got my first baby black arowana. I had him on hold for 2 weeks before the pet store felt comfortable allowing me to take him home, as he still had is yolk sac when they received him. He's only about 2 inches and I have him in a 10 gallon with some pregnant ghost shrimp at 80 degrees. The only thing I can get him to eat are little crushed up bits or freeze dried krill, but he eats those aggressively. He'll grab at all other foods that float, but spits them out. Here are some shots of 'Mr. Black':

Yeah, after doing some looking around in this forum and reading for a bit, I think its a silver as well. Damn it! The strange thing is, they had what were labeled as baby silvers in the tank right next to them, and they looked quite different.

Looks like you got a Silver and not a Black:( Black Aros are black with a lateral yellow running down the length of it's body.

It does have a lateral yellow line and it appeared quite a bit darker in the lighting in the pet store than it does under my lights. The lower fin line is transparent though, so there's no way its a black. I should have done a bit more homework before grabbing him, I guess I just got too excited about the prospect of having a black aro. The other tank of baby aros labeled as silvers which had no black or yellow on them at all helped to fool me.

How much did you pay for?

PS : I guess he is gonna get a name change to Mr. Silver

So I called the pet store about it earlier and told them I wanted to return him because he was mis-labeled and got a string of profanity in my ear along with a tirade of "I've been in this business blah blah years...how dare you tell me I don't know my fish"

Fun stuff.
