Just got this little guy last night figured I would share some pics of him. Thanks to Creepyoldguy and one of his Pbass for making this happen.

This is the first lungfish I have owned so any wonderful tips and or advice would be appreciated.

For the record, before I get flamed for having him in to small of a tank, he is only in this tank while the other tank is cycling.

great pickup. in my experience of owning lungfish (mine was the same sp as yours), the larger the tank the more active they are. they love piling sand up so be prepared to get your hands wet moving it back. keep your tank ornament free and they are extremely powerful beasts and can move pretty much anything. they eat anything and everything also. great fish to have!

Nice Lungfish! :)

Now I have a new question. He has small fuzzy white circles (about half the size of a dime) four of them to be exact. I want to start some general treatment but I am not sure about if I can med him like a normal fish or if he need different things done. Are most normal meds safe or are there only certain ones I should be using?

Sounds like a secondary bacterial infection that occurred after a heater burn or some other injury.

I had that happen to my old WAL once, and here's what I did:

  1. I dried off the affected area plus some of the area around it.
  2. I removed the fuzz without taking pieces of the lungfish with it.
  3. I applied hydrogen peroxide solution (standard 3% solution) to the affected area and the surrounding area.
  4. I rinsed the lungfish with clean water.
  5. I applied Betadine to the affected area and the surrounding area.
  6. I rinsed the lungfish with clean water.
  7. I applied a large gob of Neosporin to the affected area.
  8. I placed the lungfish in its hospital aquarium that contained clean water with 1 tbsp salt per 10 gallons of water. The aquarium was kept at 82° F until the infection cleared.
  9. I repeated all of the steps above as necessary on a daily basis.
  10. I did 50% water changes every other day, and I made sure that the salt levels were kept at 1 tbsp per 10 gallons of water.
The infection on my lungfish was fairly large (size of a quarter), so it took about a week or two to go away. The scales on the lungfish in that area were a bit messed up for a few weeks after that because of the infection, but those went back to normal, too.

I came to this thread expecting a cute little baby lungfish...and we got a medium sized adult... :D

Have fun with your new fish!
