I took the plunge and get a silver arowana yesterday. He is about 5 inches. Once I got him acclimated and in his new home he ate about 10 crickets last night. This is my first aro; I'm not really sure how much and how often to feed him. I plan on keeping him on crickets only for a week or two and then trying to add some Hikari (spelling?) pellets to his diet. And I know, I know, this post is useless without pics; I'll get some up soon!

congradulations and when you do get pics up please add him to the arow baby thread..it is just the baby arows.. cannot wait to see him.. 10 crickets sounds like alot.. i would cut his feeding in half 2xs a day.. are they the baby crickets..?

Silvers are very easy to overfeed,(maybe why they grow so fast). I would limit the crickets to once a week, and get him on good quality pellets asap.

I have to agree with the 'crickets once a week' group. they make a great treat once in a while but when ever we give pinky (see below) crickets she refuses to eat the following day in the hopes of getting more. at 16" or so she'd need a LOT of crickets to fill her up.

how ar the picthures comming up?

Congrats on the new baby. Where are the pics?

I got some new life spectrum jumbo fish formula. This was highly recommended by the guy at the LFS. He's not eating them though. He will put one in his mouth and spit it back out. Pictures are coming!! I may take a little while, have to get to walmart to have them put on a disk.

if hes spitting, hes showing interest. keep trying a couple times a day but remove if he dont eat them unless u have other fish to finish it off. eventually he'll give in and grub on that stuff
