Awesome fish!
Well my 3 went from about 4" to 18 inches within a year in my 350 gallon & ate about a $1000. worth of cichlids. My trio would eat 10" male frontosa for breakfast. It most likely will kill everything I see in your tank.
I have kept one female which is about 26" give or take & she is a beast but shes like my pet dog on display in my store. She is in a custom 150 gallon tank foot print 48"x36". Two filters on tank. Water changes couple times a week. Only thing that can survive is a pleco & a burundi cat that gets chased. She about killed a 12" Red devil & a large tyrannachromis within a hour of placing in the tank. She also killed a 30" catfish.
She is happy in her tank & has not grown much more but as big as a tank you can give him the better or a foot print like mine for your pet fish.

haha cheers , yea i kinda guess its gonna kill everything . Expensive feeders i guess lol . would a 260 gallon be sufficient for 1?how long would it last. Mine hasnt start eating as of yet . damn. got it this morning

If I were to keep them, it would be in a 4x8 plywood tank. Anything capable of making snacks out of predatory haps is a true monster in my book.

Dave - I think our dogs may be related, lol. Never seen one that looked so much like my boxer mutt, Elvis... white paws and all.

I have owned 6 and at present just one female at about 20".

I found that the larger the tank the less aggressive they are.

The one I kept is in the 15k and is very peaceful with the fish in with her.

When I raised her in a 180g as a baby she was semi aggressive with her tank mates.

Good luck with yours

not to derail, but could someone p.m. on where I might be able to purchase one of these guys!? Don't know how I never stumbled on them before.

I don't see them in stores often either. Just in case others wondered where I bought mine.

1997 The Fish Place Tonawanda New York 716-693-4411 (Jake) domestic bred $14.99 4"
2007 The Tropical Fish Room Brantford Ontario 519-756-6225 (Jerry) wild caught $25.00 6/7"
2000 Pets Plus Lockport New York 716-433-0460 (John) domestic bred $9.99 3"

I have seen them in other years in these stores but was not interested in buying any more at the time. I have also seen them on lists of vendors on this forum and others.
