Male Parachromis Dovii x Female Blood Parrot

I think they would be fantastic, and I've heard of BP/Managuensis hybrids so this should be possible. Just picked up a probable female for the job today. What personality a fish like that would deliver, I am very excited.

Right now the proven male is about 4" and the female is somwhere around 3". I'm going to let the female grow a little bit and slow down on the protein for the male until breeding time comes around. I don't want him to grow another 20' in the next month.

The breeding plan is pretty cool.

Parachromis Dovii x Blood Parrot = a
H. Carpintis x a = hc.a2
Parachromis Dovii x hc.a2 = pd.a3
Trimac x P. Dovii = b1
a3 x b = abPD.AL.4
b x a3 = abAL.PD.4

If your interested in how the formula works pm me. I'm really excited.
The Proposed female is a little shy. I'm going to give her about 1.5 months to grow an inch or so and make my boy proud. Right now he's in a mini tank. I'm going to get a seperator and cut a hole only large enough for here to go in and out of ASAP. After a couple of days of her getting used to that I'll put the male on the side she prefers and see what happens.

The male was introduced to the tank early. I just wanted to see what would happen. For the most part they are getting along quite well. The male DEFINITELY is interested in breeding with her. She's a little young, she seems to be confused by his intentions.

For the most part I'm just happy they get along, she has a couple minor splits in here caudle fin, but nothing to be worried of. She's just really shy, when he comes she usually hides. I have to sit very still to watch her or she hides. Shy, but getting off with my male (named Moncho) on the right foot. Fingers crossed. :hearts:

Good luck, female parrots start laying eggs around 2.5 inches. I have my own little project as well, I am trying to breed bonsai flowerhorn with a blood parrot. My females not cooperating as well...

Lol she's confused by his intentions  Anyways I hope the best for you man! Keep us updated on how they are doing. Also if you successfully breed them and are selling some fry I would for sure buy one if you can ship to florida :D All for the best man!

Payara Man-Yeah I would definitely ship to FL. Thanks for the support!

Chrisplosion- Don't feel to bad man. It's the male that's cooperating(which I am very happy about, that was supposed to be the hard part), the female is very shy of him. I've been keeping up with your post BTW on your project. I wish the best of luck to you.
