I hope you all like my new fish, main questions I would like to ask also are
1. what kind is my devil? he was the only one in a shipment of random Sa/ca, hes yellow with white stripes and has a long snout.
2. is my GT short bodied? I picked him cause it looked like he ate alot therefore was healthy, when I got him home i really couldnt decide if he was SB or not.

thanks for your time Friends!

Nice!! tank and stock looks great! & that "cat shark" is a columbian shark btw (and yes it is a catfish) :)

The GT does not look short-bodied...it looks to be just a juvenile GT

& I've heard red devils can come in the color form of yellow...but I'm not really sure

Thanks for your kind words Clownknife! I originally thought it was a fat healthy little GT but other times it looks like its stubbed shorter, I guess only time can tell on that one.
Or someone who has owned one before.

As for the devil, well when I saw it I had to buy it! the pictures really don't do it justice. would be interesting to find out if it is Citrinelum or Labiatus but I suppose someone will view here like The Midas King and he will know!

Thanks again took forever to take decent pictures I need to give the glass a really good clean XD

Well its safe to say its a Hybrid, but it does have the longer snout, longer body and the V shaped snout from above, if I knew the fish was either then i would say Labiatus, but as its impossible to tell I would assume hybrid with more devil characteristics. whats interesting is the fish wasnt ordered in specifically it just showed up in a assorted cichlid shipment and looked nothing like the other midevils i've seen around town, so i brought it :P thanks for the link RD and the kind words :)

I deal with Gold's, Pisces, Riverfront, etc, and the chances of a pure labiatus or citrinellus showing up in cowtown is slim to none, unless the fish came from a local breeder that has imported fish from the US. While your fish does look more labitaus than citrinellus, I've seen plenty over the years that look just like yours at the local Petsmart. Not that there is anything wrong a labiatus or citrinellus with no known provenance, I have a couple myself. :) What shop did you pick him up at?

That setup will look very nice in a year or so when all the fish grow and start to color up.

thanks guys, and RD I picked them up from Petland in SE calgary, they also sell Aequidens Diadema (uncommon) Champsochromis caeruleus (uncommon) and madagascan cichlids (rare)
all for cheap prices so I wouldnt put it past them to get a pure Labiatus especially when this fish wasnt even supposed to be ordered. Either way I love him whether he is pure or not, and I canmt wait to see how he turns out :P

I'm heading over to Pisces to look for some Oddballs on saturday, you seen anything cool there you would recommend?

Great start on your dream tank. Don't forget to increase your filtration as your fish grow, the Fluval canister will not keep up long term. I like your GT.

Thanks JK can I say you have an awesome name :P and yeah I forgot to make it clear that I will be upgrading the filtration as the fish grow, thats just the one I got with the tank off of Kijiji. still can't believe I got the lot for $200.
Feels good after viewing this site for about 5 years now to finally have my dream tank!

Incase anyones wondering, I emptied a smaller community tank into there to mature it, theres about 8 3" columbian tetra, and 4 black skirts, other than that just harlequins and stuff, I don't see the smaller ones making it but the columbians are actually bigger than the cichlids right now so hopefully they will be a more longterm dither.
