Just want to share a few first pics of my new guys. The oscars will be coming out as soon as I find a home for them. Even though they seem to just want to hang out with them.

Nice pick ups.

Geez, glad I put those pics up. I'm new to these guys and was hoping i'd be able to spot any problems. Guess i'd better look closer for others. How much salt you think I should ad for the 100 gallon?
One more question. What do the red lips signify?

I feel bad for the guy. He chases food around the tank but then lets it go by i'm assuming because of his mouth. I've done a 40% w/c added bunch of salt and been treating with melafix for 2 days. The melafix is because i assumed he was fighting and his mouth got more red. Now after 2 days it is alot less red but still lets his mouth hang open. Is there any other disease he could have or is it just from fighting?
On another note the oscars are out of the tank so it's just the 2 NTT.

The standard dose is a rounded tablespoon for every 5 gallons, but make sure you're using aquarium salt, not synthetic sea salts.

The red lips are a symptom, so there could be multiple sources. It could be inflammation from an injury, swelling from infection, or even parasitic. I would just continue with frequent water changes, increase the temp and airation, and treat any new water with salt.

Thanks. I really hate to be a pain in the ass but I am really loving these guys and want to give them the best care. Should I stick with the melafix's instructions and wait to do a 25% w/c till after 7 days of treatment or do 25% every few days?
