just picked up a beautiful 1" ebjd from my lfs. this is the first time i had seen them there and i just had to get one. right now he is in my 29 gal with a few corys, some rosy barbs and my blue ram. i would like any advice i could get about raising my new fish. he seems healthy and ate right after being acclimated. any advice would be much appreciated. thanks!

Watch him carefully. Feed him a varied diet and make sure to keep the water clean and do routine water changes. They are very fragile fish at this size. Make sure to get some Spirulina in his diet. I like to use the frozen brine shrimp enhanced with Spirulina.

Also if you want to do some reading check out these sites.

Try reading up on a uv sterilizer. It really helped me. My first one died, but my new one is fine. Also watch out for internal parasites, try some preventage treatment.

One inch is a rough size to start out.
What are you feeding him right now?
Try feeding frozen blood worms (i would thaw and rinse them first) because they're loaded with protein.
Mine also goes nuts for Omega One Super Color Pellets (as a staple diet) and for vegetable matter, mine also gets HBH SuperSoft Spirulina Pellets.

Good luck with yours. :)

Yes but "your" new one is in much better care. ;)

i feed flakes, frozen bloodworms, and frozen spirulina shrimps. he is a little small for the pellets now but he will be given hikari cichlid gold when he gets a little bigger. so far he seems healhy. he is active and no signs of white stringy poo as of yet, though i have only had him a few days. i have heard they can be tough at such a small size, but i have never seen them for sale at anything larger than 1.5". i am planning on taking the best care of him that i can and hopefully all goes well. soon i will try and post pics. thanks for all the help guys.
