Hey guys..browsing those awesome cichlid setups of you ppl in the photo lounge has kicked up my passion for big cichlids again..am thinking of setting up a 4ft tank with some big spikey plecos( think pseudas, megalancistrus), a few cichlids like Oscar(i know is common but i just luv this fella), JD, GT and maybe one or two more. Am gonna have some cories in also. You think this can work? will the cichlids hunt down the cories and get cories stuck in their mouths? and other than those cichlids i mentioned, what else do u recommend? Thanks! :D

Sounds like an awesome set up. I think the cories will get killed. I dont think u should go with more than those 3, they all get kinda big and that tank isnt huge. How many gallons is it?

hmm ok..tank around 70 gallons i suppose..just wonder if just 3 of them will wreck havoc..although i did have these 3 together in a tank last time...but the oscar and GT died since then...

Nice. I wouldn't get cories they will get eaten. If u want a bottom feeder like them get LARGE clowns. Get like 6ins ones because they grow slow. If u want a cool fish get a bichir. they are tuff. my oscars never touch mine. Look at my signature for a list of the fish i have with my three oscars. Might give u some ideas. but my oscars were all raised as a community fish not a single fish then add lfish later so i think it makes em more tame. my friend had one that couldn't have any tank mates. the only thing it had as one was a snail that it would try to eat and one day did. so every fish veries but i think raiseing them with other fish tames them down. here are some pix so u can see the fish

don't put any corys in your tank!!! i've known of oscar's especially that have eaten a cory, only for it to get stuck in the oscar's mouth... once they're stuck, the oscar can't eat and both fish died. and i've known this to happen to more than one fish... i work at a LFS and hear the horror stories...

ok! got the idea! no cories! :D

but only 1 cichlid allowed eh? had 3 of them in 1 tank with no probs for awhile..until i shifted the oscar and GT out to live with turts...
then guess only my existing JD then... :(

maby u can get a dif larg ciclid to live in the tank

no corys they can get stuck in the mouth of your oscar and kill them both
