My new Florida gar

New Florida / Spotted gar, around 3-4". Got this little bugger today. The store had only fed him feeders, but I won't feed him feeders. Any ideas how to get him to eat shrimps or sticks?

I started with earthworms and then mine eventually took frozen and pellets.

It's just all about patience isn't it. I think he'll eat eventually. Feeders are just to darn expensive here.

Nice fish. Be Patience best i can say. Ive gotten my gars to eat other things. Just took time.

Frozen krill and blood worms frozen will work. For some strange reason they like to eat frozen items. All my gars are off feeders and only had then to acclimate then to my tank. Now they are eating sticks and loving it

Soaking the food in garlic (I do that to go fishing for spotted gar locally, works pretty well) helps attract them. Stuff some silversides w/ the pellet so it gets used to the taste, attach a bit of fishing like to the tail of the silverside and kinda drag it around like a lure
