My new flowerhorn Can some one ID please

It has a thin flower line, how do we check for male or female currently it is in a 25 gallon tank. it gets bright pink in the stomach region not showing in the photograph and the banding disappears. it is 2 inches in length approx. I have a 3 inch BGK who shares the tank temporarily with it for now. pretty excited for this one is my first Flowerhorn
Nice pick up for $7. Too early to tell the sex. I had one that I thought was a male that didn't have markings on the dorsal until it got to 3" and it laid eggs.
Cool thing about FH's is they change several times during their grow out...what starts of plain can become incredible...it's all the genetics and which are dominant in the fish, plus clean water and good food.
for the growout what are the sizes recommended , at the LFS I saw a bunch of these clubbed in a 18"x18" tank. for the show of course. there were slightly bigger juvies in 4"x18"compartments with teh bigger ones kept in a 24"x18" tank with the height at 18" and water level at 16" I asked about how to grow them or would growing be fine in a compartment the sales person said it would be fine and 2' tank would be good for a grownup.
I plan to keep it in a 3'x1'x2' at least when it is grown but currently I am confused with the size of growout tank.
would it be fine with other chiclids or should I put it solo,
It does not like the BGK chases him when I put those together , they are now separated.

it was fairly sleepy , i just scooped it up and took a pic , it is still in the tank and woke up after the flash went off
Update: found it dead earlier today. its tummy was swollen.
the water is fine. was eating fine. I dont know why that happened , had a gaping mouth.
