I'm getting ready to set up my 150 gallon tank and this is one of the filters that I have purchased for it. My question is, what is the best media to put in this filter. Any input would be helpful. Thanks

Whatever you choose pack it loosely.
The FX5 runs great until it gets bogged down with bio bulk.
Some small charcoal packs and bio ceramics work great.
Good luck. I have four FX5's and they rock!

The reason I bought one is because it seemed like they are the best bang for your buck canister filters. Thanks for that bit of info as well.

Mine are loaded with seachem pond matrix, fluval bio-max, and ehiem substrate pro. The seachem pond matrix is the best bang for your buck!!!

I'm using the standard sponges in mine, bioballs in the top basket, sintered glass nuggets and ceramic rings from my old canister in the middle, sintered glass rings in the bottom basket.
