And then there was.... Frontosa? Ok so this lady I work with was giving away a 55 gal. tank with hood, stand, filter, everything right. Here's the catch... She says "it's yours free, but you have to take the large Cichlid that's in the tank too." I almost passed it up because I just didn't want another Oscar (Don't get me wrong they are cool fish to own, but messy, imo). Like I said "almost" passed it up, but I just moved into a new house and had the room for another tank, sweet! The tank ends up being covered in that nasty hard brown algae. After a TON of cleaning and resealing I end up with a beautiful new tank and this fish that I had never researched or seen in a lfs before. The sticky on identification is an amazing article (read through it a few times) but still not quite sure what species mine is, and male or female. Any help is greatly appreciated. Regardless I have a new found appreciation for Frontosas.
She (assuming to be female, her name is Persephone) is very curious digs a hole in the back corner of her tank (where she spends most of her time) but is quickly getting over her shyness.
