Got them on Sunday and I haven't actually seen them eat yet. So far I've tried flakes, pellets and dried krill. All with no luck. I'm thinking they may be spoiled on frozen food but I don't want to risk it with fish this expensive! The nearest LFS with frozen foods is about 45 min from me. Should I get in the car now or give it a couple more days?

What size tank are they in..... any tank mates........ temp....... how big are they and how many do you have?

I had the same problem with 3 zire blues at $200.00 each.

I fought it for 1 year and then the male killed one of the females so I put them into my 300 that had other fish that ate good and it fixed the problem...... now I can't get them to stop eating.

BTW what part of the state are you from? I'm in Indy

They are little guys 3" or so and I have two of them. I also have a little Comp in there with them. Water temp is at 79F. Tank size is 65G. All water params are perfect.

Also I live in Madison, IN. Down on the river. :)

PS - Just wanted to add that they seem to be acting fine otherwise. Swimming around etc.....

you know I would get 4 or 5 barbs (the fire red ones look nice and get 3") that will eat whatever you throw in and let them show them how to do it.

frons are laid back so they should leave them alone.

Heck they are cheap and you can always give them to someone when their job is done.

It took mine a few days to eat when they were new, but after that they went nuts on omega1 flakes. For bigger ones i've had good luck with HBH sinkers.

mine didnt eat for a week after i got them. they are stressed. if 3" they wont starve soon. relax, give them a few days to settle and start feeding in a few days

I got one at three inches a while back and he ate after a few days. Also if you are not watching, since they are new, they are most likely sifting the gravel... hopefully you have sand. They will get the courage to eat soon enough...

def try sinking pellets.......shrimp pellets...or frozen krill.............basically they prefer food coming to them and that way they wont suck air and get bloat!!! works on my 4 fronts,.....although they will and do eat floating pellets, but mine have been established for almost 2 yrs!!!!!:)

I agree. Fronts are one of the laziest africans I have seen. My 2 sit at the bottom sifting sand eating what ever hits them in the head. When I feed they immediately go to the bottom and wait till the feeding freenzy is over. They will eat algae on rocks food in the sand. They eat to live not live to eat as with most cichlids. They won't starve.
