So after being reminded of just how cool these fish are by another glass knife thread in this forum, I decided I was going to get myself some . So last week, on a trip out to pick up a giant wet dry for my big tank, I decided to stop by one of the wholesalers I order from at my LFS which was ten minutes down the road. I got to pick out three really nice ones myself, which was fun. They're doing really well, one of them is out all the time now too, and they're picking on bloodworms and brine. One thing I noticed them doing today, however, took me by surprise. I recently moved my discus into the tank, and he had developed a slight ich infestation, which I started to treat using the heat and salt treatment. Today I saw the glass knives going up to the discus, and literally got to observe them picking off ich spots while the discus turned a little to the side, as if allowing himself to be cleaned. Totally unexpected!! I have never witnessed anything like this in FW before, although I have heard about some gouramis acting as cleaners in the wild. Anyone else ever see anything like this before? BTW, my discus is now completely clean, although if he gets any more spots I'm going to try to video the cleaning behavior.
OK, well here's the pics:
