Well i have once again grown tired of my fish setup...:( My new plan is to completely overhaul the tank, 55gal, and only keep my EBJD a large school of Black Tetras and maybe my convict and possibly a syno catfish. I also want it to be overgrown with Java Moss and Sword plant. Any suggestions for what I should do with my 55 that still resembles my plan above. Any advice is appreciated.

If I didn't make my question clear the first time, what I want to know is if I will be able to keep my convict or jack dempsey for this set up, but not both. Thanks in advance!

Eh black widows might have to go. back widows might be killed. well you could keep the JD or convict in there by themselves. if you really want the widows you could try them. Just be prepared to possibly loose them.

you could keep a catfish and a convict. just make shore that the catfish is not to big I would stay in the 5-6 inch zone. catfish can be aggressive so be careful. but you can not keep a catfish with the JD because the JD would take up the whole tank. the only other thing you can have with the JD is small fish. but if you put small fish in there you should be prepared to possibly loose them.

EBJD are pretty mellow and less aggressive compared tou your basic JD. Tetras should be fine.
Eh tetras might work. i would just not put small fish that you are attached to with it. It should work. I would really just be prepared if it does happen.

In most cases i would disagree with you Oscaroo. But this time.... I'm gonna do the same thing. You can keep convicts with your jack in the 55. A pair could harm the EBJD tho so be careful with that. Also, you can keep a catfish with them aswell. Keep to the smaller cats like the pictus, raphael, among others. I kept a JD in a 55 with with a catfish and convicts with no problems at all. JD can be killers but all the jds ive owned never killed a fish

yeah definitely no pair of convicts. I've seen the damage they can do. The black Tetras I have are quite large and have been in the tank since the EBJD was about .75". the tetras are pushing about 3'' and are quite round, I don't think I'll lose any for a while. Do you think a pictus would be ok with the fish and the Java moss I have planned?
