My new Goonch

I just picked up this goonch from Jeff Rapps yesterday. This is the Thai variety of Bagarius yarrelli. About 8" long. Any advice on tank setup, feeding, or tank mates would be appreciated.

Yes and I believe he has two others.

They need colder water. And have heards to keep them healthy put a powerhead aimed at a place where they like to hang out

I have the temp down to 72 F now with 2 powerheads. I'm struggling to make a suitable cave though.

I'd really love to own one, but the price tag keeps me from it. I can't afford anything for that price right now. I might be able to, but it would be the only fish I could buy. I am gonna stick with some smaller catfish and place like 2 orders so I can get at least about 6 species. I will continue to watch you and others with this fish in an envious state lol. Please keep us updated on this gorgeous fish.

So it's been nearly 2 days now. He ate several cut up pieces of shrimp last night. He seems to be breathing somewhat quicker than I would have expected. Water temp is 72F and there are 2 very large sponge filters in the tank along with 2 strong powerheads. He likes to sit outside of the current though.

He seems to be doing well. About a minute or two after the lights go off, he is swimming all around the tank. I gave him a piece of shrimp off of a feeding tong, and he hit it incredibly hard! Reminiscent of my alligator gar in swiftness of attack. I just picked up some planters. Any recommendations on a good type of plant for hiding places?
