Yep, mine even follow my hand around when doing maintenance.
 
One of mine turned into a murderer. Prettiest one in fact. Told my wife he was going to be one of the five I took to the lfs after that and she's said "but he's the prettiest" to which I responded...it always is. He goes after full grown big bodied tetras and rips their throats out. It is horrific . The others are normal though and are like disco ball rainbows.

You have a nice heckelli. How big is he? I gave away my big guy to a friend recently he was such a beautiful fish with long streamers. Too bad my pike cichlids didnt like him he was a nice looking fish for sure

Yeah anytime I come near the glass he is right up there checking me out. I'm hoping mine doesn't flip and become a murderer. So far he seems very peaceful, my little severum is showing to be the dominant fish. And thank you, he's about 2.5 inches.
