He was a donation fish at my lfs and I was hoping to give him a better chance than there. Not sure if it's stress or if it's partial gold gene. Unfortunately the tank he is in, houses my little Jag. Who has already made it a point to assert dominance over his new mate. But, the tank also contains 1 black con, 1 pearl HRP, and 1 calico convict, along with some yoyo loaches and a decent sized Poly Lap. Those fish just mentioned all are ignored, aside from the occasional chase of a convict. The Dempsey is easily over an inch longer and like a 1/2" taller and good 1/4" thicker than the Jag. The Jag nudges and pushes the dempsey a fair bit but there is no real damage occurring as of yet. The LFS had a bunch get dropped on them, I was thinking of getting an additional one to help the other dempsey take less attention and possibly pair. It's a 110 and my Jag is barely 2.5 and change. So everyone has time to grow. I feel bad these dempseys are in a tank with a 6" midevils, blackbelts, some fene's and salvs. So they are quite out matched at the store, but they were just donated all from some stupid kids 20g tank. 5 really nice dempsey around 3-4" in a 20g...
So the questions kind of is, would 2 be better off than 1?
