Another new arowana, from the same lot as henward's RTG (all the RTG's had sold so I got a green instead). Similar size, also very active and in great shape, scales have good patterns already (although its hard to capture in the photos) and the fins are quite dark with a reddish tinge. Is this normal for greens??

[excuse the blurry pics, those are the best out of 50+ pics, it doiesn't sit still!]

Its already eating pellets, so thats a good sign. Do greens colour up better under strong lighting like the reds do?

Cool baby aro ^^ i know it is quite frustrating to take pix of them. It is amazing some of the photos that are put up on MFK are stunning. I will try to borrow my uncle's super duper camera and see if it makes a big difference

Yikes! i did not see the bichir ... r u not concerned that bichir will make a meal out of your green aro? It looks certainly capable

The ornate is a solid 16", possibly more, but I hate over-estimating measurements and I'm only basing that on the size of the pillow case I used to transfer him to that tank a couple of months ago. If you look at the clown loach in the centre of the pic you'll see why I'm not worried about the bichir. He's well fed, and doesn't worry the clowns which have less mass than the aro and are swimming around at his level. I thought about it while acclimatising the aro, and decided there's plenty of other fish the bichir would go for before the aro, smaller cichlids that sleep on the bottom of the tank, loaches, and one lone feeder that remains from the 20 that I dumped in there to help cycle the tank.

The aro is already eating aggressively, I put in some shrimp and it grabbed a few pieces as it sunk, then swam right down and grabbed a piece off the bottom from one of the loaches, and then tried grabbing one of the huge pieces I put in for the ornate! I'm so stoked to have an aro again, I feel like a little kid on xmas morning!! :D

Hope you can show some detail pictures of the ornate. It looks really good.

How long does it take to grow to this size?
