Second cichlid I ever owned, first is an oscar who just hit the 7" mark in the other tank. This endearing little guy is in a 10g for qt with a couple goldfish, really interesting to watch his habits of chasing them away from "his" cave. May become a future tankmate for my tiger oscar if he grows big enough, seems so small at only 1" :D

looks great, hes got lots of color for only an inch, he/she should really darken up and show a lot more spangling once it gets a couple more inches on it

+1 some JDs can be little aholes while Os are usually super laid back but shouldn't be a problem though, however if the O is in that 55g in your sig then he needs bigger tank in near future, 55g is good for JD but Os get to big to be kept in a 12in wide tank, and its def not big enough for them both together

Yea I'll definitely be getting a bigger tank, even though you see people on here cramming like 5 large cichlids in 55's it can't be healthy at all for the fish involved. It's better to give them their space. ;)
