If you remember about a month ago my 8-1/2" ZZ Dragon died on me all of a sudden.

Well 2 days ago I picked up a 4" Male King Kamfa. This is not such a great pic as he was only in the tank for about 20 minutes when I snapped this. Today he is more relaxed, swimming, eating and has colored nicely. I will grab some better pics when I get a free moment. But this is it for now. I got him and all of my fish from a friend of mine who is an importer and was told he was a KK, what do you guys think? He's got the white eyes and the red along the edge of his dorsel fin and tail and his vent is in the right direction to be a male. Hopefully as he grows his KOK will be as nice as the one my ZZ had.

Not much in fh.
But looks like srd.

Have to agree. The body shape is oval like all ZZ's. Obviously the pic isn't the best to judge from but with that angle and the color patterns I would say SRD as well.

prbbly a mix srd with a kamfa and got more of the srd genes.. im not confident it's a pure srd with tht white eyes of his and plus he got more pearls.. should be a stunner in the future .. keep em updated ! :)

Updated image, still doesn't dohim justice colorwise yet, he looks amazing in real life. He is definitely a Kamfa of some sort and his KOK is growing by the day. The first pic was a week ago, and he had nothing going on as far as any size KOK, I think he's goona turn out pretty nice.

Well by definition it isnt even close to a kk... Mind if I ask what ya paid? Hopefully u didnt pay kk prices for him... It has a lot of ZZ blood in it and very little Kamfa imo. Not a bad looking fish tho... Would be great if his head blew up and made his face look more smooshed in.

Sorry to hear about your former fish. I feel the same way about mine. I lost mine about a month ago now, and I'm getting the itch again to get another.

What size tank are you keeping this new flowerhorn in? Looks great, and his hump is coming along fast. What are you feeding?

Thanks, he currently in a 55 gallon tank with 2 little Royal Pleco's, I feed him Hikari Ciclhid Gold pellets. I have him a week now and he looks way better than my crappy pics depict him.

He is looking good. Make sure you feed him a variety of food. Cooked shrimp once ever couple of days and if you can incorporate some vegetable matter into his diet thats good too. Sometimes they will eat cucumber pieces or peas.
