I just got my new MONSTER stand delievered :headbang2and would like your feedback on it :D.
I had originally planed to have a copy of Neoprodigy's stand made but my father's friend who made it had already finished it before I could show him detailed pics.
It's made from 40mm boxed galvanised steel (2mm thickness).
It has 7 bars across the top to support the tank and 3 across the bottom.
I am a little worried it may not be strong enough and may ask for some extra bracing.
I have no experience with metal stands and was very surprised at it's weight.
The tank is going to be 8'x4'x28" glass monster so it needs to be stong enough.

That will work as long as the welds were done right. The top corners could have been engineered better. Just make sure it is set up on a flat surface so it doesn't twist. Diagonal bracing would be nice too in a perfect world. Are you going to skin it? Cover it?

No I am only going to put some ply on the top (with foam) and bottom.
I need easy access to the sumps and filters and like to see how everything is running filtration wise.

Wow Ramesh, that is an awesome stand. I can't wait to see the tank. When your done please tell me how much the whole thing cost (minus fish).

It looks like he did a nice job, but...

It's got to hold up over 2.5 tons (that's a full size car). Diagonal bracing is a must or it could corkscrew to the ground. With this much weight, just gusseting the corners won't help, either will just completely welding all joining surfaces as welds (metal) can tear whereas bracing won't crush.

Just a few add-ons, a diagonal on each end and 4 in the back (to leave the front open, will get the job done.

Thanks for the advice Doc Joe but I don't understand the four baces on the back.
A diagonal on each end, yes but there are only three holes/gaps in the back for adding (diagonal) braces. I am confused mate.
