Wait a minute, isn't this weapon semi automatic,I thought that NFA pertained to automatic weapons?

922r is one of the most stupid laws. it doesnt apply to pistols anyway. hey you have 11 foreign parts, your going to jail.

Oh yeah.....Since his weapon is a SBR would he be allowed to add the front vertical grip that some MP5's have,or would that recquire another dead tree's worth of paperwork?

as long as it has the tax stamp it can have the vfg.

Concerning the VFG:
Any rifle can have a VFG without permit or issue. A pistol can not without a tax stamp (AOW). So the answer is yes it can once it's a rifle. No it can't as a pistol. Mine is a pistol now, and will continue to be one until I get my ATF paperwork back approving the addition of a stock.

Concerning the machine gun questions:
A MG trumps all, and any registered sear of trigger pack can fit into the proper platform. A MG host negates the need for 922r compliance, and it also negates the other silly rules that apply. You can take a pistol, add a registered FA mechanism (sear or trigger pack), and then it is a machine gun. In that aspect, you may add and remove all the parts you like without paperwork (vfg, stock, etc). You may remove the stock and vfg before removing the trigger pack or sear, and you have not altered the weapon from a pistol to a rifle. It was altered to a machine gun (which doesn't have the same rules) and back.

Concerning full auto:
No, this is not capable of FA (legally) per BATFE regulations. FA hasn't been my intention for this mp5 though. For the cost of a registered sear or trigger pack (~12-15k) I can think of plenty of other things I'd rather do. Besides, my neighbor is a cop and has a FA HK416. I can fire that FA whenever.

Also, as with anything concerning firearms, I'm not a lawyer, so if you're interested in doing anything like this, I highly suggest you do your own research, read the laws, and consult a lawyer. It's worth 10yrs/$250k as insurance.

The other funny thing is that 922r only applies to the construction/importation of a rifle, NOT the ownership. If you buy one off of gunbroker that is already configured, 922r compliance isn't your responsibility (as I read and research it).
