The other funny thing is that 922r only applies to the construction/importation of a rifle, NOT the ownership. If you buy one off of gunbroker that is already configured, 922r compliance isn't your responsibility (as I read and research it).

yeah but the "the other guy did it" proboably wont hold up in court too well.

Sure, I agree (and I do play it safe and follow every law). But to date, there has not been a single 922(r) only criminal case. It has always been lumped on with other charges.

LOL...just figured I'd bring this back as a means to entice Clay to throw up some new pictures.

922r is one of the most stupid laws. it doesnt apply to pistols anyway. hey you have 11 foreign parts, your going to jail.
To the owner of a rifle.. 922r means little to the ATF..... if your an importer and manufacturer it means much... The idea is a form of Gun control by requiring blah blah domestic produced parts which at the time of introduction there where none really.. Soooo what 922 really did was make a whole industry here in the US making Kalashnikov, H&K, Fabrique and Zastava parts... Huh go figure.. it created Jobs here in the US that I believe even Colt a major US military supplier outsources to foreign plants for the Guns used by our military... Think about that...

Oddly it has an upside... Now if US manufacturers for these parts would just stop making so much crap and put some quality engineering into their work.. Some have but not enough..

Oh, I guess I should update this with an updated pic. I got my stamp back a while ago and completed my SBR build, while staying compliant with all laws and potential pitfalls. recently purchased a Tromix build Saiga conversion AK. It's in transit now.

Really nice Clay.I like the way it's turned out but I notice you have changed out the handgrip. What made you decide on that?

Oh I see.I did something similar on my GSG5 but I removed the handgrip that it came with, looks like the one you now have, and installed the one with the contoured grip, like the one that you removed.

I have a nice US made side folding stock (similar to a UMP if you're familiar) that will allow me some more versatility in parts swap over. I also want to change out the charging handle for a US made, and maybe the bolt head. At that point, I can change over whatever I want without worry.

Yes I'm familiar with the UMP and I hope to purchase an MKE for myself but they are pretty hard to find right now.
