My New payara....i think its a tat....but not sure...

Hey MFK I have been reading aboit payara for a while and picked one up today. I read the stickies and I am still not sure....so help is appreciated. He is about 7 inches if that makes a difference.

I would believe you gave a really good looking tat buddy! Nice score. I really wish lfs around me sold those. Had my eyes on one since I started the hobby. Only scombs and raph's around my town!

Just got him today...but the cichlids didnt even notice him really. He was out all day and didnt get touched. He got nervous a bit when they were squabbling near him but nothing crazy. Also the stuff in there is pretty docile.

yup def a tat.... goodluck with him, i've gotten many fish from beitels aquarium, he does a good job

Tats get around 18 inches in the wild but in captivity, we'll barely seen any over 12 inches. It's definately possible though.

How big's yours?
 
Cool...12 is what i had read thats why I wanted a tat...but i can deal with 18 if it happens. Originally i said he was 7 inches but now more realisticly 8 pushing 9.

Is there a reason they dont reach there potential in captivity?
