A couple weeks ago i posted a thread that was "New fish for a beginner" asking advice on keeping a payara. Well now i got him and he is awesome! Hes about 4 or 5 inches and takes down 2 or 3 goldfish in a 24 hour period. I got him temporarily in an 10 gallon tank until i get either a 150 or the side glass on my 210 resealed. Either tank i end up with will have pea gravel river rock with a small stump and 1 or 2 small plants and of course a few airstones and powerheads. Also either two hanging filters or a big canister filter. Im currious if the few things ive mentioned are adequate enough to give this fish a decent home. Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Chris

when can we expect pics and films ;)

Payaras live in waterfalls and require a fast current...so if you can set up your jets on one end, that would probably be beneficial...good luck with them :)

congrats. curious on how much u paid for him. i have 2 true payaras coming tommorrow at 6 inches for 25 bucks each. he will go in with the vulpinus i own now that is 8 inch.

ya know whats funny is i though payaras liked current so i took my wussy powerhead out and put my magdrive in the bottom of the tank and my payara hides behind it were theres no current.:nilly: :nilly: :nilly: :nilly: :nilly: :nilly: :nilly: :nilly: :nilly:

I have a theory that when juvie they stay in slower coves and such that are safe from the voracious adults .Then when they hit 12" mark they venture out into the harder stronger currents .So I would suggest do not go crazy with current when small .
