I have been out of the FH hobby for 8 years. Got what I believe is a great deal for an almost adult ZZ FH and decided to rekindle my love for this type of fish.

Comments welcome... Would this be considered a good quality FH? Do you think there is any more potential to grow the kok and improve its color? I'm planning to feed it NLS as a regular staple with occasional baby crayfish.

Thank you!

Kok will improve slightly.. Color will improve though. Is it trying to breed with something? That would explain the major shrinkage lol.

Thank you for your comments.

Not sure if it was breeding but it was in a large tank with other hybrid and CA/SA Cichlids when I got it last night. It might still be "stressed" from the drive back and for being in a new tank all by itself. Also I have never seen it before last night so I am not even sure if it used to have a large kok.

My plan is to just take really good care of it and hopefully bring it to its full potential - kok and color wise.

I would appreciate any other comments from FH experts out there.

i do have one flowerhorn not that size but it could be your water conditions as oppose to where it came from try meds like stress coat + double dose it could even melifix because that is a good med for regen i found and aquarium salt to help make it produce more slime for slime coat fight any ich.. i have a 55 that i have c/a hybrids mix that put 1 cup into then after scraping film off tank during water changes just a few tables spoons SET on the bottom for slow dissolve.. try this if this doesnt help rejuvenate the fish i say super ich cure from api ya its for ick but its crazy good for everthing else too..

Boy out of the hobby for 8 years...the trend is now far beyond that fish now. Time to start browsing around.

Should be colorful. Only things I don't like are the underbite and weak tail. Could just be the pics though and not everything has to be perfect.

Salt done. Check water conditions and everything is good. 2nd day with me so the fish is still acclimatizing to its new tank. Did a 20% water change tonight, fed him some NLS pellets for lunch and dinner and he ate them all. Temp at about 78 degrees. Thanks for the suggestions!
